Tamil Nadu Women's Roll Ball Team Won Bronze

Belgaum, Karnataka - January 7, 2024

In a dazzling display of skill and determination, the Tamil Nadu women's roll ball team secured the bronze medal at the 20th Senior National Roll Ball Championship, hosted by the Karnataka Roll Ball Association and organized by the Roll Ball Federation of India (RBFI). The championship, held at the Shivganga Skating Ground in Belgaum, witnessed the participation of 23 states from across the country between January 4th and January 7th, 2024.

The Tamil Nadu men's team showcased remarkable efforts in their matches, overpowering Chandigarh with a dominant 22-0 victory. Although they faced a narrow defeat against Rajasthan with a scoreline of 4-5, and a similar fate against Uttar Pradesh, the men's team demonstrated exceptional skills and sportsmanship throughout the league.

On the women's front, Tamil Nadu secured victories against Jharkhand (5-0) and Haryana (7-1) while drawing the match against Jammu and Kashmir in the league stage. Their stellar performance continued as they defeated West Bengal by a convincing 6-0 in the quarterfinals. Despite a hard-fought semi-final loss to Uttar Pradesh (1-2), the women's team exhibited resilience and determination.

In a nail-biting encounter for the bronze medal, Tamil Nadu faced Maharashtra. The women's team emerged victorious with a thrilling 3-2 win, showcasing their prowess and earning the applause of spectators. The RBFI officials presented the coveted bronze medal and trophy to the triumphant Tamil Nadu women's roll ball team in recognition of their outstanding performance.

The Sports Tamil Nadu Roll Ball Association (STRBA) officials, including Mr. M. P. Subramanian, Mr. C. Govindaraj, and Mr. M. Premnath, along with head coach Mr. V. Rajasekar, extended heartfelt congratulations to the team. This historic achievement marks the first time Tamil Nadu has secured a medal in the Senior National Roll Ball Championship category, highlighting the dedication and hard work of the athletes.

Under the guidance of head coach Mr. V. Rajasekar, both the men's and women's teams underwent an intensive two-week training session at the Coimbatore Roll Ball Association. This rigorous preparation undoubtedly played a pivotal role in their fabulous performance at the championship.
